In 1940-1944, the Todt organization built for the needs of the 40 highest generals, 1,500 officers and soldiers around 250 facilities, including 30 reinforced concrete shelters. It is the great opportunity to see bunkers in all their glory because the Germans did not manage to blow up the shelters and they have been preserved intact until this day. Not everyone knows that Adolf Hitler who was an architect was a designer of Mamerki Bunkers! Mamerki was a self-sufficient “city” protected by a mechanized guard battalion. Every 300 metres there were concrete poles (preserved to this day) with telephones and lanterns illuminating the area. Security was guarded by 4 guardhouses, anti-aircraft defense units protected the stations from air attacks.
