Krakow: Traditional Dunajec River Rafting

Krakow is definitely beautiful but visiting it can become a bit absorbing and intensive. If you would like to get away for a moment and have a chance to rest in a peaceful location full of magnificent views, we would be thrilled to take you to the Pieniny National Park. Here the biggest attraction is rafting on the Dunajec River which starts in Sromowce Nizne and finishes in Szczawnica. During this pleasant activity, you will have the opportunity to grab some fresh air and cherish the nature all around you. The local rafters dressed in traditional regional costumes will make sure that you enjoy it. On the way, you see all the significant points – the Red Monastery on Slovakian side of the border and the most famous peaks „Sokolica” and the „Three Crowns” of the Pieniny Mountains. Tour itinerary:

  1. hotel pick up at chosen time in the morning
  2. approx 2,5 hours drive from Krakow to Sromowce Nizne by private car/van with English speaking driver
  3. meeting with local rafter at the beginning of rafting route
  4. Dunajec river rafting for up to 2,5 hours total during which you will see:
  • Red Monastery – made of red brick in 14th century, reconstructed later and not red anymore, located on Slovakian side of the border (Dunajec River is a natural border between Poland and Slovakia)
  • Three Crowns – the highest peak in the Pieniny Mountains
  • Sokolica – one of the peaks of Pieniny Mountains, famous for being a great viewpoint to admire the canyon of the Dunajec River and the Tatra Mountains in the further distance – the highest mountains in Poland
  • numerous steep rock formations and forests of Pieniny National Park

5. free time for lunch in Szczawnica right after the rafting
6. drive back from Szczawnica to your hotel in Krakow (approx 2,5 hours depending on traffic)
7. your hotel drop off in Krakow

*EXTENDED TRIP VERSION

OPTION 1

On the way back from Szczawnica to Krakow, our driver will take you to the Niedzica Castle which is popular tourist attractions in this region. The additional time for visiting it will be 1 hour and whole tour will last approximately 10,5 hours. The Niedzica Castle – also called the Dunajec Castle is a medieval fortification known as one of the most picturesque castles in Poland mainly because fantastic location by Czorsztyn Lake.

  • 1150 PLN per person (1 person)
  • 620 PLN per person (2 persons)
  • 450 PLN per person (3 persons)
  • 390 PLN per person (4 persons)
  • 330 PLN per person (5 persons)
  • 290 PLN per person (6 persons)

*Prices include everything the same as basic version of the tour plus also entrance tickets to Niedzica Castle and sightseeing it on your own for up to 1 hour

OPTION 2

Once you finish rafting in Szczawnica and have some free time for lunch there, it is possible to rent a bike and take an individual ride on your own along the Dunajec River which ends up by the Red Monastery in Slovakia (the route is 14 km long and it takes approximately 1 hour – ). It will be extremely pleasant activity during which you will be able to admire fantastic views of mountains, forest and Dunajec River Canyon. Our English speaking driver will pick you up from Red Monastery and take you back to Krakow.

Whole tour will last approximately 11 hours.

We extend our basic tour with both – visiting Niedzica Castle by Czorsztyn Lake on the way back to Krakow and also bike tour on your own along Dunajec River from Szczawnica to Red Monastery after the rafting. In this option whole tour will last approximately 12,5 hours.
