Poznan: Tour to Warsaw

During your stay in Poznan we can offer you the possibility to visit Poland’s capital – Warsaw. It is the country’s biggest city full of history and valuable monuments. Together with our professional guide you will see the most important attractions and learn more about the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 during which the German army completely destroyed the city leaving only ruins. This event had a significant influence on today’s architecture which you will have a chance to admire. After World War II, the city was rebuilt from the scratch and nowadays it is an example of an almost total reconstruction of a span of history covering the 13th and 20th century. The final effect is so outstanding that it was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. We are more than sure that you will be impressed.

Tour itinerary:

  1. early morning hotel pick up and transfer with our English speaking driver to the railway station in Poznan (exact time depends on train schedule)
  2. receiving 2nd class return tickets for fast train connection (EIC) between Poznan and Warsaw and assistance of our driver at the platform
  3. comfortable journey by train on your own (approx. 3 hours)
  4. getting off the train in Warsaw and meeting our local, private city guide at the platform
  5. up to 4 hours of private guided Warsaw City Tour in chosen language which will be partially driving and partially walking tour during which you will see:
  • Tomb of the Unknown Soldier – a monument which commemorates Polish soldiers who fought and died for freedom and independence
  • Presidential Palace and Prince Poniatowski Monument – the presidents headquarters
  • Chopin’s bench close to Wessel Palace – contains 15 monuments commemorating the famous worldwide composer – Fryderyk Chopin
  • Castle Square – situated at the entrance of the Old Town; together with the King Zygmunt’s III Waza Column creates the most important area to see in the city center
  • Royal Castle and Royal Castle Square – completely destroyed during the war, rebuilt in the 1970s; for many years it was the official residence of the Polish rulers; here at the square you will also see the statue of King Zygmunt III
  • St. John’s Archcathedral – famous for significant national celebrations, one of the most important places for Polish culture and tradition
  • Old Town Market Square – here you can admire the colourful tenements with the famous statue of the Mermaid of Warsaw located in the middle – a famous landmark of Warsaw
  • Barbican – part of the defensive walls, constructed around 1548, destroyed during the Second World War and reconstructed in 1952–1954
  • The Little Insurgent Monument – a memorial of children which fought and died during Warsaw Uprising in 1944
  • Warsaw Uprising Monument in Krasinski Square – dedicated to the 63 days of heroic battle for independence in 1944 against the German army occupying Warsaw
  • St. John’s Cathedral, a Gothic church and witness of the most important events in the country’s history
  • Palace of Culture and Science – considered to be the symbol of Warsaw
  • The Royal Route – on this trail you will find the aristocratic residences
  • The former Jewish Ghetto area with Memorial to the Heroes of the Ghetto
  • Lazienki Royal Park – the most beautiful park in Warsaw with the famous monument of the composer Fryderyk Chopin and the Palace on the Water
  • Praga District with pre-war architecture and modern National Stadium built in 2011

6. up to 4 hours of free time to discover the city by yourself and having lunch break (on your request we can make it shorter or longer – depends on the train connections)
7. reaching railway station in Warsaw on your own after free time or with assistance of our English speaking driver – according to your wish
8. around 3 hours journey back by train from Warsaw to Poznan
9. pick up at the platform of railway station in Poznan by our English speaking driver and transfer back to your hotel in Poznan
