Museum of the Factory
The Museum of the Factory is a place where you can discover the history of textile factory founded by Izrael Poznanski in mid 19th century. In the times of its past glory the factory produced million of metres of cotton material. The industrial empire of Poznanski was a self-sufficient district which included the owner's residence, factory, workers housing complex, church and a hospital. Today Manufaktura is located in these historic buildings. The Museum of the Factory is the place where you will not only discover the history of Poznanski industrial empire but also how the factory developed in time, what was the material production technique and also how did the day of ordinary factory workers looked like.
On the exhibition you will find photographs, documents, films, architectural plans, samples of materials and final products from the factories. The museum offers you an unique possibility to learn how the looms operated and you will listen to the stories of the retired factory workers. In the Museum they will present to you the way which cotton had to cover from the plantation, through factory in order to become an end product-a beautiful fabric to be bought at the shop. The permanent exhibition at the Museum of the Factory was designed and prepared by Miroslaw Nizio. Entrance to the Museum of the factory is next to Cinema City in Manufaktura. Museum of the Factory cheerfully invite all the young ones and their parents to participate in their weekend events. On Saturdays and Sundays, between 12.00 and 15.00 they offer various artistic tasks and fun. Those young visitors not only have the chance to learn some history, but also some artistic ways. Up to date they allowed kids to draw, paint, carve in salt-mass, cut out shapes, look for certain things in the museum with the magnifying glass or even create a model of whole factory with just paper, glue and imagination. Every month there is something new within weekend events they have in offer, so the kids will rarely get bored. These events are held without additional payment to the price of the ticket.
