Gdansk

Gdansk is a city with 1000 years history, once described as the Hanseatic granary of Europe. It is also the city of famous scholars and humanists. One of the most important sights is the Church of St Mary. It is the largest medieval brick-built church in Europe with well known figure of the Virgin and Child and Astronomical Clock made by Hans Durunger in 15th century.

Its position on the Baltic has historically made Gdańsk one of the most important port cities in Northern Europe, and tragically also the scene of a rather disturbing past. More about Gdansk - Gdansk travel Guide [Gdansk]
