The Szczecin Philharmonic


The Mieczysław Karlowicz Memorial Symphony Orchestra of the Szczecin Philharmonic Society began its concert activity in the year 1948. The Orchestra of the State Philharmonic (1953), then The Mieczyslaw Karlowicz Memorial State Philharmonic of Szczecin (1958), finally The M. Karlowicz Memorial Philharmonic in Szczecin (2006) since its first concert has aimed at the high artistic level appreciated and esteemed in other European countries too.

In the years 1961-1982 it performed in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and GDR, then in Italy in 1983 and 1987. After 2000 the ensemble was successful in the Festival de Vlandeers, also in Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Germany, Sweden and recently in Holland and France. Nearly thousand soloists could say with satisfaction that they have given concerts together with the Symphony Orchestra of the Szczecin Philharmonic. The concert hall is an attractive venue for conferences, symposiums, concerts and other meetings. It has its advantages of being placed in the city center next to the City Hall and having attractive rental prices. The hall has 427 seats including 385 of the ground floor level and 42 of the balcony area.
