Central Cemetery
Central Cemetery (Hauptfriedhof) is the vastest cemetery in Poland and the third biggest one in Europe. Opened in 1901, it was meant to be "the park cemetery" from the beginning. You can find many species of trees that come from North America and from Asia.
The cemetery was designed by the great architect, Wilhelm Meyer-Schwartau, the man who designed Szczecin's Way Chrobrego as well. Since its very beginning, about 400.000 people have been buried there. There's no much space left and that's why the city is building another huge cemetery at Bronowicka Street at the moment. Soon, there will be no burials at Central Cemetery. [Szczecin]
