Lodz: Exhibition |||||”Madame B|||||” at the Museum of Art

“Madame B” is a form of reinterpretation of the novel “Madame Bovary” by Gustave Flaubert. By eight video works presented on 19 screens, the artist show the relationship between capitalism and romance, and thus commercialism forming the idea of romantic love. The authors show how strongly these relationships have survived 150 years after the publication of the novel, and why Flaubert is often considered to be a postmodernist and feminist.
The screens are arranged in a manner that encourages individual sightseeing. The participants will be able to build their own story out of the scenes displayed. The artists encouraged to focus on the visual and audio aspects of the screenings. In their view, economic and amorous adventures, which cause the heroine to collapse, are largely triggered by visual stimuli that surround her.
The opening ceremony starts at 6 p.m. Free admission to the opening. The exhibition will be open until 9 February 2014.
