Poland was the first country that Hitler invaded by using military actions in 1939 and starting the World War 2. Less than 3 weeks later, Stalin also invaded Poland from the east causing inevitable defeat of Polish army. After first weeks of many bloody battles against German and Russian forces, many others horrible things happened here like: establishing concentration camps where massive genocide happened, establishing Jewish ghettos districts in big cities, massive executions, Warsaw Uprising battles in 1944 and many more. Nowhere else in the world today you will find so many memorials, museums and historical monuments from this dark period of human history. During our tour you will see the most important sites related with history of World War 2. This is our proposal for the itinerary:

Day 1 – transfer from Gdansk Airport to hotel in Gdansk

We provide private transfer from Gdansk Airport to hotel in Gdansk by private bus. Our local representative would be waiting for the group at the airport with a small board with the name of the group.

Day 2 – Full day city tour of Gdansk

We will dedicate whole day to sightseeing of Gdansk. We will start with a walking tour of Old Town with all its highlights and famous monuments. Program would be exactly the same as on our website: http://www.gdanskadventure.com/en/tours-in-gdansk/old-town-walk . Afterwards we will focus on sites related with World War 2 like Monument to Post Office Defenders, Soviet cemetery, former building of Gestapo but first of all we will visit the place where it all started on 1st September – first battle of World War 2 at Westerplatte - small peninsula a few kilometres from the city center. So basically this part of the city tour will be according to this program: http://www.gdanskadventure.com/en/tours-in-gdansk/gdansk-world-war-2-tour . If you do not get tired after visiting all those places, we can also take you for a short tour to Sopot – most famous sea resort in Poland, located right next to Gdansk.

Day 3 – Transfer from Gdansk to Wolf’s Liar with sightseeing Malbork Castle or Stutthof Camp on the way

We will leave Gdansk in the morning right after breakfast and head towards Wolf’s Liar – Hitler’s military headquarters and place where in 1944 an unsuccessful attempt to kill Hitler was made. On the way we could visit one of two very interesting places so you can choose which one you prefer. First option would be famous Castle of Teutonic Knights in Malbork: http://www.gdanskadventure.com/en/travelguide/malbork . Second option would be first German Nazi’s concentration camp on Polish territory in Stutthof. We will arrive at the hotel near Wolf’s Liar in the evening.

Day 4 – Sightseeing of Wolf’s Liar Complex + transfer to Warsaw

We will start the day with guided tour of one of a kind, truly hidden city complex with barracks, shelters, two airports, water supplies, power station, plants, railway station etc. where Hitler spent over 800 days. Then we will go to Warsaw but on the way we will also see one of two interesting sites – you can choose the one you prefer. Option number 1 would be Distillery of Polish Vodka in Nidzica where we can have a traditional vodka tasting and photo stop next to local Teutonic Castle. Option number 2 would be concentration camp in Treblinka: http://www.warsawtraveltours.com/Treblinka.html We will arrive at the hotel in Warsaw in the evening.

Day 5 – Full day city tour of Warsaw

We will dedicate this day fully to discovering most interesting sites in capital city of Poland. We suggest combination of all major highlights with the sites related with World War 2 history. During this day you will see all sites listed in those 2 programs: http://www.warsawtraveltours.com/warsaw-city-tour.html and http://www.warsawtraveltours.com/warsaw-world-war-2-tour.html We will also visit modern museum of Warsaw Uprising and find out a lot about heroic battles of this period of war. We will provide you with private bus for a day and arrange private guide who is expert in the theme of World War 2.

Day 6 – Transfer from Warsaw to Krakow + walking tour of Krakow’s Old Town

Right after breakfast we will leave Warsaw and head to Krakow – former capital of Poland and second biggest city of the country. Journey will last approx 4,5 hours. When we arrive in Krakow you will check in your hotel and have lunch. In the afternoon our local city guide will meet you at your hotel and you will have a private walking tour of Old Town according to the program on our website: http://www.krakowtraveltours.com/en/tours-in-krakow/old-town-walk

On this day, we will focus on sites related strongly with the war period according to our program presented on the website: http://www.krakowtraveltours.com/en/tours-in-krakow/krakow-world-war-2 . Then we will have a lunch break in one of the restaurants in the centre and in the afternoon we will go for a tour to Wieliczka Salt Mine. It is one of the most popular destinations for excursions from Krakow. In the early evening/late afternoon we will come back to Krakow.

Day 8 – Full day excursion to Auschwitz & Gliwice ( Gleiwitz )

Right after breakfast we will go to Auschwitz & Birkenau concentration camps established by Germans in 1940. Journey from Krakow takes up to 1,5 hour. Then we can continue our journey 60 km north west from Auschwitz to Silesian town of Gliwice. Few people know that it was here where so-called Gleiwitz incident happened. It was a provocation to serve propaganda goals – staged attack against German radio station by Nazi forces posing as Poles. It happened on 31st August 1939. Today huge tower of this radio station still stands here and can be visited together with a small park around and museum. After short visit in Gliwice/Gleiwitz we will come back to Krakow in the early evening.

Day 9 – Transfer from hotel to Krakow Airport

Depending on your flight schedule we pick you up from your hotel at chosen time and take you straight to the airport. Before the transfer you will have some free time in Krakow.
