What should you see in Szczecin
Szczecin is the largest city of the Western Pomeranian region, located upon the river Odra and lake Dabie. It is the historical capital city of the Pomeranian Duchy. If you’re wondering what should you visit in this seaside city, we have got you covered. In this article we will tell you a bit about some of the most popular attractions in Szczecin.
The Chrobry shafts
Formerly known as the Haken Terraces, this place is perfect for observing the extensive panorama of the Odra river and the harbor. The oldest written acts about this place reach back to the 16th century. In 1873, the demolition of Szczecin’s 18th century fortification began. Thanks to the huge involvment of Szczecin’s mayor – Herman Haken between 1902 and 1905, an observation deck was formed in this place.
The National Museum in Szczecin
At the Chrobry Shafts, you can visit the Szczecin National Museum’s Main Building – one of the six buildings of this museum.
Apart from nautical collections, the building holds archeological and etnographic collections (including the African collection).
The permanent exhibits include:

We especially recommend this attraction for families with young children. Here, you can see over 100 parrots from 30 different species, touch them, and even try to feed them.
This place can also offer unforgettable birthday parties and educational workshops.
