Chelmno is a picturesquely situated town by the Vistula River, on nine hills. It is one of the prettiest cities in Poland and is included on the European Route of Brick Gothic. It is famous for its well-preserved medieval urban planning and gothic architecture. The symbol of the city is the beautiful panorama of the city dominating over the Vistula valley, the uniqueness of which is emphasized by the fact that it can be admired from all over the world. Chelmno is usually called the „city of lovers” since here we can find the relic of St. Valentine’s – the patron of love and even the tourist route that takes people around the city’s most beautiful sights, is shaped as a heart. 3. guided sightseeing walking tour of Chelmno with private local city guide in chosen language for up to 3 hours, during which you will see:

• original monuments from its heyday (13th-14th centuries) – the chessboard, medieval layout of streets and the gothic defensive walls which are one of the finest examples of defensive architecture in Europe
• the “heart” of the city – the Main Market Square, in the center of which there is “the pearl of Renaissance architecture in Pomerania”
• the 16th century Gothic-Renaissance town hall, with a medieval model of the length of the so-called “Chelmno rod”; it has a stunning, richly decorated attic tower over the main square. It is one of the most valuable monuments of the Polish Renaissance era. Here we will also visit the Museum of the Chelmno Land
• the Cistercian-Benedictine monastery complex
• the parish church of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which houses the relic of St. Valentine
• the 60 m high tower of the parish church – the highest point in Chelmno with a beautiful view point
• the Powder Tower – one of the most authentic elements of the military architecture of Northern Poland
