Katowice: One Day Trip to Czechia

If you find yourself in Katowice with a free day, consider joining our thrilling excursion to the Czech Republic. This delightful country boasts numerous attractions, from the breathtaking Beskids Mountains in northeastern Czechia to various cultural landmarks spread across its towns and regions. The journey from Katowice to the northeastern Czech border takes about 1 hour, allowing us to explore the main highlights in just one day. Despite the limited time, there’s a wide range of sights to enjoy. We’ll visit the impressive Hradec nad Moravicí Castle, a historic site with Gothic, Renaissance, and Romantic architecture, set in a picturesque landscape. We’ll also explore the elegant Raduň Palace, renowned for its Renaissance design. Before returning to Katowice, we’ll stop in the charming small city of Opava to admire its historic center and take a well-deserved rest.

Tour itinerary:

1. hotel pick up at chosen time in the morning
2. approx 1,5 hour drive from your hotel in Katowice to Radun Palace in Czechia
3. self-guided visit of the Palace in Radun for approx 1 hour and 15 min during which you will be able to see:

• Radun Palace from the outside – admire its fantastic Renaissance architecture, grand façade adorned with ornate sgraffito decorations, intricate stonework, and elegant arcades.
• Orangery which is a delightful example of 19th-century architecture
• Radun Palace’s garden – splendid example of a meticulously designed landscape, reflecting the grandeur and elegance of the estate.

4. approx 20 min drive from Radun Palace to Hradec nad Moravici Castle
5. self-guided visit of the Castle for approx 1 hour and 15 min during which you will be able to see:

• Palace Park with all the viewpoints
• Courtyard of the White Palace
• Historical exhibition located in the former garden hall

6. approx 20 min drive from Hradec nad Moravici Castle to Opava
7. up to 3 hours of free time in Opava for lunch, delicious Czech beer and discovering the city on your own during which you will be able to see:

• Upper Town Square with beautiful, white Clock Tower
• Unusual statue called “Spion” (The Spy)
• Opava Opera House
• Gothic, brick-red Cathedral of the Assumption on the Virgin Mary
• Old Theatre building
• Church of the Holy Spirit
• Lower Market Square with Baroque St. Vojtech’s Church
