Krakow: Lesser Poland Highland – Taste Wine and Goat Cheese
Escape the city and discover the heart of the Polish countryside on this full-day wine and culinary experience from Krakow. Travel through the rolling highlands of Lesser Poland, visit two distinctive vineyards, meet local producers, taste regional delicacies, and enjoy breathtaking views of lakes, castles, and sanctuaries. This tour is a perfect blend of nature, history, and gastronomy, offering a relaxing yet enriching adventure outside the city.
Your journey begins in Krakow, where you will board a comfortable minibus with an experienced guide who will accompany you throughout the day. As you head southeast toward the warmer microclimate of the region, you’ll be surrounded by vibrant green hills and picturesque valleys known for their thriving wine production.
The first stop is Winnica Zawadka, a charming family-run vineyard where clay-aged wines and rustic traditions take center stage. Here, you’ll enjoy a guided tasting of four wines paired with locally produced cheeses, meats, and fresh bread. A seasonal lunch will follow, showcasing Polish and international cuisine paired with local wine. For cheese lovers, there is a special treat — a meeting with a local goat cheese producer offering samples and the opportunity to buy fresh artisanal cheeses.
After lunch, the tour continues with a cultural visit. Depending on the day, you’ll explore either the Tropie Sanctuary, a beautifully preserved early medieval church nestled on a forested hillside, or the historic Castle of Czchów, offering panoramic views over Lake Rożnów. Weather and time permitting, you may even enjoy a traditional ferry ride across the lake.
The second vineyard visit takes place at Winnica Uroczysko, known for its striking landscape that resembles Tuscany, complete with dramatic poplar trees and rolling hills. Here, the wines are named after Slavic gods and spirits, reflecting the deep-rooted cultural identity of the area. You’ll meet the vineyard owners who will personally host your tasting session and share captivating stories about their winemaking process and regional heritage.
The tour ends with a relaxing drive back to Krakow, carrying unforgettable memories and perhaps a few bottles of wine and cheese as souvenirs.
