Krakow: Vineyard sightseeing and wine tasting

Poland has been home to some rustic Polish vineyards for decades. Now they’re getting even cooler with this new surge of younger-generation winegrowers. 1. Wine Tasting in Srebrna Gora Vineyard

The Srebrna Góra Vineyard is located in Krakow, at the foot of the Monastery of O.O. Camaldolese in Bielany. It is one of the largest vineyards in Poland, picturesquely situated in the Vistula valley. It covers an area of 28 ha and consists of two parts located in Bielany and in the nearby Przegorzaly. The wines are made in the historic utility rooms of the Camaldolese monastery and are made in modern stainless steel tanks, some of them matured in contact with acacia or oak wood. The most famous varieties grown on the Silver Mountain are: Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, Regent, Seyval Blanc. In the Srebrna Góra Vineyard, young wine is also produced every year. St. Martin associated with the end of the harvest and the celebration of the patron saint of winemakers.

A visit to the Srebrna Góra Vineyard involves visiting its grounds combined with a lecture and tasting 5 wines in the enotourism pavilion at the foot of the Vineyard.

2. Wine Tasting in Wieliczka Vineyard

It is a vineyard and winery with an ecological certificate. The main principle is respect for nature as they do not use chemicals commonly used in conventional agriculture. The owners of the vineyard run the entire farm ecologically (or rather biodynamically) and as such cannot be a monoculture. Therefore, apart from noble grapevine bushes, you will find an orchard with old varieties of fruit trees and other plants traditionally grown in Poland, as well as bees that use their nectar.

During the visit you’ll taste 4 wines, then walk through the vineyard to learn about their organic farming methods.

3. Wine Tasting in Jura Vineyard

Jura Vineyard is located only 30 minutes from the Main Square in Krakow and 40 km from the center of Katowice and it is situated on the limestone slope of the Krakow Jura with a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape parks, the Beskids and the Tatra Mountains.

In the area of four hectares grows 9 varieties of the proper grapevine (vitis vinifera) and hybrids. For white wines they are Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Solaris, Johanniter, Hibernal and Seyval Blanc and for red wines Pinot Noir and Cabernet Cortis.

Our winemaker or sommelier will personally show you around the vineyard. After visiting you will taste 5 wines (sparkling white and red). The wines are accompanied by local dry sausage, cheese, bread and water.
