Rzeszow: Tour to Auschwitz & Krakow

During this tour you will visit not only Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum which is one of those places that everybody should visit at least once in a lifetime but also Krakow which is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the country. After the guided tour of Auschwitz & Birkenau Museum which is a symbol and memorial of terrible events of World War II, our driver will take you to Krakow, former capital of Poland, full of impressive architecture, precious monuments and fantastic atmosphere.

Tour itinerary:

  1. pick up from your hotel in Rzeszow at chosen time,
  2. up to 3 hours drive by an air-conditioned vehicle to the Auschwitz Concentration Camp Museum from Rzeszow with our private English speaking driver,
  3. sightseeing group tour inside the camps for up to 3,5 hours with local, professional guide in chosen language during which you will see:

Auschwitz I – the main camp (approx 2 hours of visiting)

  • camp infrastructure barracks (storage, workshops),
  • camp director’s office and SS guardhouse,
  • The Arbeit Macht Frei gate, crossed by thousands of prisoners on their way to long hours of hard labour,
  • numerous exhibitions showing personal belongings of the prisoners, located in the places where camp prisoners were quartered,
  • courtyard of the Block 11 with so-called Death Wall – place where people were executed,
  • Block 11- the camp jail – where prisoners were held in the basement and the first test of mass murder with Zyklon B was arranged,
  • the gas chamber and crematorium I,
  • the site of the execution of the former camp commandant Rudolf Hoss,

Auschwitz II – Birkenau, the largest center of extermination (up to 1,5 hour of visiting)

  • the world famous railway entrance gate for trains transporting prisoners to the camp,
  • the ramp, destination for trains carrying people deported to Auschwitz,
  • the ruins of gas chambers and crematoria I and II,
  • the monuments to the victims, located at the end of the railroad platform, between the ruins of the gas chambers,
  • the main camp bathhouse – the Sauna,
  • the barracks.

5. approx. 1,5 hour drive from Auschwitz Museum to Krakow
6. up to 2 hours of free time in Krakow during which you will be able to see:

  • Slowacki Theatre – eclectic, 19th-century theatre, one of the most impressive building in Krakow
  • Barbican – a former part of medieval defensive walls historical gateway to medieval Krakow,
  • Florianska Gate – beginning of the Royal Route,
  • Florianska Street – one of the most famous promenades in Poland,
  • St. Mary’s Basilica- built in the 14th century, great example of Polish Gothic architecture and one of the most important churches in the whole country,
  • Main Market Square – the largest medieval market square in Europe,
  • Cloth Hall – former, large market hall erected in the 13th century, located at the Main Market Square,
  • Town Hall Tower – 70 metres high remaining part of the former Town Hall,
  • All Saints Square with the Pope’s Window – symbolic place where Pope John Paul II had residence during his visits in the city,
  • St. Peter and St. Pauls’ Church on Grodzka Street – Roman Catholic church built between 1597–1619,
  • Kanonicza Street – one of the most picturesque street in Krakow and the oldest one,
  • Wawel Royal Castle – a symbol of Krakow, seat of Polish Kings for many centuries

7. approx. 2 hours drive back to Rzeszow from Krakow in the same vehicle with the same English speaking driver
8. drop off at your hotel in Rzeszow
