Wroclaw: Tour to Auschwitz & Katowice

Take part in a full day tour and visit Auschwitz – Birkenau and Katowice from Wroclaw. You will use the train connection between Wroclaw and Katowice so you can avoid traffic and also you can pay the lowest possible price for this kind of tour. You will visit Auschwitz & Birkenau – the symbol of one of the most terrifying genocides in the whole history of the world named Holocaust. The camp was established by Nazi Germans in 1940 during World War II on the outskirts of the town of Oswiecim which today is located in a south of Poland. In the second part of the tour, you will have the chance to visit Katowice – the capital city of the industrial Upper Silesia region. Although it is a typical industrial city, there are a lot of interesting places which can be seen during a short visit.

Tour Itinerary:

  1. pick up from your hotel in Wroclaw
  2. private transfer with our English speaking driver to the train station in Wroclaw,
  3. receiving 2nd class return tickets for economic standard fast train connection between Wroclaw and Katowice and assistance of our driver at the platform
  4. comfortable journey by train on your own (up to 2,5 hours)
  5. once you arrive to the train station in Katowice, our local English speaking driver will be waiting for you at the platform with a small board with your name or Poland Travel sign on it – please do not leave the platform to avoid getting lost
  6. approx. 1 hour drive from Katowice to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum
  7. visiting the camps with a local group tour with licensed, professional guide in chosen language for up to 3,5 hours during which you will see:

in Auschwitz I (Main Camp):

  • commemorating signs – plates describing places, items, and events during 1941-1944
  • documentary maps and photographs – showing how prisoners brought to Auschwitz looked like
  • the Death Block (Block 11) – here prisoners were tortured to death
  • the Death Wall – the place where thousands of people were shot
  • Crematorium I and the first gas chamber – a gas chamber for mass murdering
  • Block 4 – here visitors can see the hair cut off of the murdered people in the camp
  • Block 5 – contains an exhibit case with dentures of the victims
  • Block 6 – presents photos of prisoners registered in Auschwitz
  • Block 7 – inside visitors can imagine how the original toilets and washrooms looked like in the camp

in Auschwitz II (Birkenau):

  • remains of gas chambers – here victims were murdered by the gas Zyklon B
  • remains of crematories – corpses were brought here and burnt after being murdered
  • central camp bath – a large bathhouse where convicts were sent for showers and disinfection
  • barracks – basic rooms without access to any sanitary-hygienic conditions for the prisoners
  • the well-known railway entrance and unloading platform – at this point the deported Jews, Roma and prisoners of different European nationalities arrived for work and extermination
  • the International Monument to the Victims of the Camp – it commemorates the 1.1 million people who died in Auschwitz

8.approx. 1 hour drive back from Auschwitz & Birkenau State Museum to the centre of Katowice

9.approx. 3 hours of free time in Katowice to have lunch and explore the city centre on your own (on your request we can make it shorter or longer – depends on the train connections)

10.reaching railway station in Katowice on your own after free time

11.up to 2,5 hours journey back by train from Katowice to Wroclaw

12.pick up at the platform of railway station in Wroclaw by our English speaking driver and transfer back to your hotel in Wroclaw
