Zakopane: Aggtelek National Park and Baradla Cave

If you are a fan of caves and beautiful nature, we would be thrilled to take you for an interesting all-day tour to the picturesque Aggletek National Park on the border of Slovakia and Hungary. This is definitely one of the most popular attractions in this part of Europe. Here you will have the chance to visit the famous Baradla Cave which is the longest one in this region (25 km) and is on the UNESCO list since 1995. 5 km of the cave lays in Slovakia (where they call it Domica), the rest is on the Hungarian side. The Aggtelek Park is the only national park in Hungary established in order to protect inanimate natural assets – karst formations and caves. It is also the home of many rare animals and a wide variety of stunning flora.

The Baradla cave was formed as a result of crustal movements and destructive effects of underground waters 200 million years ago. Without any doubt, it surely impresses thousands of tourists every year thanks to its unique formations and numerous amount of animal and plant species. It is said do be the the most remarkable cave not only in Hungary, but also in this entire temperate zone. Up until the last century, it held the status of the second longest cave in the world.

During your visit, you can choose different tour options, the standard one lasts up to 2 hours but it is also possible to book longer versions – 5-7 hours or even 3 days but it is required to organise in advance. At the end of the standard tour there is a nice surprise for tourists – once you enter the Concert Hall, magic starts. In an enormous chamber with excellent acoustics, you will experience a musical show with the most fascinating forms exposed by lights. We guarantee that the beauty and charm of this underground world will remain in your memory for a long time!
