Katowice: Tank driving

Silesia is a unique region, known for its complex historical and sociological background. It is no surprise that it is the place where we can find one of the most outstanding venues connected with military equipment.

You just need as little as 20 minutes to get to a Military Technology Park from Katowice. It is here that you can take a closer look at a wide variety of military stuff, not only military vehicles that are the most impressive part, but also radars, weapons and missiles.

You can choose one of the options below to book your ultimate experience, either being driven around or learning how to drive on your own. You can choose between the famous T-55 tank or a BWP-1 (a Polish name for BMP-1), the first mass-produced infantry fighting vehicle in the world, constructed by the Soviets and widely used since it began to be in service in 1966.

Activity program:

1. Pick up from your hotel in Katowice at chosen time
2. A drive of approx. 20 minutes to the venue with a private vehicle and a private English speaking driver
3. Meeting with a local tank driver and boarding a tank
4. Approx.15 minutes of T-55 Tank or BWP-1 driving
5. Up to 1 hour free time to visit the Military Technology Park
6. Return transfer after the event of approx 20 minutes
7. Hotel drop off

Whole activity with transportation lasts approximately 2,5 hours

Important information:

• OPTION 1: There is a maximum of 3 people per one ride (all participants ride in groups of up to 3 persons, in case of more than 3 persons the group is split, eg in case of 5 persons there are 2 rides – one for 3 persons and one for 2 persons)

• OPTION 2: Only 1 person can learn at a time but there is a possibility to have a companion on board just to watch

• OPTION 3: There is a maximum of 6 people per one ride (all participants ride in groups of up to 6 persons at one time)

• OPTION 4: Only 1 person can learn at a time (no possibility to have a companion on board)

*Please note that in case of a plain ride, the tank driver will not speak English (your driver will translate the safety rules for the activity before you board the vehicle) while for driving lesson either the instructor will speak English or there will be a translator to ensure you get the most of your course
