Office of Artistic Exhibitions in Olsztyn

Situated in the city centre, at the seat of Olsztyn astronomical observatory, it is the largest and most prestigious Modern Art Gallery in Olsztyn. Initially it was situated in Olsztyn castle and only in 1973 moved to a new place. A true gem of its collection is the sculpture of Stefan Knapp, displayed on an atrium wall. The Gallery organises All-Polish thematic and mono-graphic exhibitions, promotional displays and artistic competitions.

For many years it has also acted as a host to the Quadriennale of Polish Woodcut and Lino-cut (since 1975), which evolved into a renowned and prestigious Poland-wide graphic competition, and the Biennale of Olsztyn Plastic Art (since 1988), presenting artworks of Olsztyn artists. The Gallery stages about 25 exhibitions a year. Thanks to cooperation with State Art Gallery in Sopot, it displayed three times a famous collection of Polish painting of Lvov Art Gallery.
