Leba tours and sightseeing
Leba is a town in the Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland. It is located in the Middle Pomeranian region, near Lebsko Lake and the mouth of the river Leba on the coast of the Baltic Sea. It is a seabathing resort, a fishing and yachting harbour. To the west of it is Lake Lebsko lying in the Slovincian National Park, to the east – Lake Sarbsko. Leba has very few historic buildings. The Paris Church of the Virgin Mary was built in 1685 and its tower in 1763. Inside is the picture of Our Lady. The oldest houses date from the 19th c. At the seafront is the holiday resort. At Stara Leba 2 km from the town centre on the left bank of the Leba River are the ruins of the 14th c. Church of St Nicholas systematically buried by sand. Lake Lebsko is closed to tourism, but Lake Sarbsko with its clear water is a holiday and water sports centre. The wide sandy beach an the seashore is normally very crowded in the season. Though Leba is not officially a spa, it has some sanatoriums where mud and warm sea water baths are applied. On the peatbogs near the village of Krakulice south of Leba enormous numbers of cranes gather every year in late September and early October before their winter flight.
