Piwniczna-Zdroj is a Polish town located in the malopolskie region, upon the river Poprad. The town of Piwniczna was established in the Poprad Valley by the power of the decree of king Kazimierz II the Great in 1348. Becaus of its location, Piwniczna was supposed to support the income of the royal treasury. Thanks to its location by the busy trading route to Hungary, as well as numerous royal privileges, the town was expanding very quickly and dynamically.

The Regional Museum in Piwniczna-Zdroj

The Regional Museum of the Association of Amateurs of Piwniczna is operating in the rooms of a local Culture Centre. Inside the humble rooms there is a collection of old documents and stamps from royal privileges, which present the history of Piwniczna from the time of its location as well as roughly 2000 artefacts associated with the everyday life of local people. One of the highlights of the museum is the largest collection of old skiing equipment in Poland. The
oldest set of skis originated from the mid-18th century.

is located under a bridge, which hangs a Gasiorowa street. The ending point is located near the footballs field in the town of Rytro. Poprad is a mountain river, which begins flowing at the southern side of the slopes of Karpaty, at the
height of nearly 2000 meters above the sea level. The Poprad river owes its picturesque character to the countless river gorges and meanders. Tourist will also surely appreciate the stunning beauty of the landcapes of Beskid Sadecki.

The castle in Rytro

If you’re travelling through the Poprad Valley, you should definitely check out the ruined castle in Rytro, located on a nearby steep hill. The castle was most likely constructed in the late 13th and early 14th centuries, but its founder remains unknown. In the late 13th century, the first brick-made part of the castle was created – a cylindrical tower from sandstone, which is currently the best-preserved part of the castle. In the 16th century, the castle was owned by Piotr Kmita, who was one of the richest noblemen in Poland in those times.

The Sensory Gardens in Muszyna

The Sensory Gardens in Muszyna are located in the „Zapopradzie” health park in Muszyna. Here you can not only enjoy a relaxing walk, but also get an intense experience for all your senses. The garden has several zones, including the health zone, the Aphrodite zone, the area of stories about Muszyna and the Magical Gardens It’s also worth mentioning that the garden is adapted for the needs of disabled people, including visually impaired people and those, who move in a wheelchair. This is also a place, where newlyweds and couples, who celebrate their wedding anniversary can plant a so-called „tree of love”.
