Katowice Panorama Tour
If you would like to get to know Katowice a bit better, join us for the longer version of the standard city walk – the panorama tour. Together with our guide we will show you all highlights of the capital city of the Upper Silesian Industrial District and take you for a ride outside the city center to show you two historic workers’ settlements – Nikiszowiec and Giszowiec which were established at the beginning of the 20th century. Today they are popular tourist attractions and regularly visited districts thanks to its unique architecture and atmosphere.

Tour itinerary:
- pick up from your hotel at chosen time and meeting our private city guide in chosen language
- up to 3 hours of walking sightseeing tour in the centre of Katowice that includes all important sites of the city center:
- Main Market Square area – the heart of the city; completely rebuilt and renovated in 2011-2017; the biggest attraction of the market is the Artificial Rawa – a fountain imitating a river flowing under the Market Square. The riverbed of the Artificial Rava runs like the one of the underground one
- Silesian Theatre – a significant cultural institution of Silesia named after S. Wyspianski, established in 1907 in Katowice; with the biggest drama stage in this part of Poland
- shopping Malls „Zenit” and „Skarbek” – famous department stores built during the communism period; they represent the modern style architecture;
- Silesian Insurgents Park – one of Katowice’s beautiful, large parks situated in the city center; here you will find the Monument to the Silesian Insurgents – it commemorates citizens who took part in 3 uprisings against German authorities
- Spodek Hall – a characteristic structure with an unusual shape resembling a flying saucer, built in the second half of the 20th century, nowadays holds numerous concerts, exhibitions, fairs and sports events
3. after the walking part of the tour, we will drive to the district Nikiszowiec (around 15 min.); here we will spend up to 1 hour
- Nikiszowiec – also simply called Nikisz, is an old, almost 100-year-old district of Katowice with very characteristic red brick buildings; it resembles old English charming towns, only in a different, slightly more “raw” version; the estate was created for the miners of the nearby mine and their families; additionally besides residential houses, shops, schools, a church and other service points were built; it is said that the estate became a self-sufficient creation, beyond which it was not necessary to go
4. after visiting Nikiszowiec, we will drive to the district Giszowiec (around 10 min.); here we will spend 1 hour as well:
- Giszowiec – formerly Gieschewald (in honor of Georg von Giesche – founder of the largest industrial concern in Silesia); a historic patronage housing estate and an auxiliary unit of Katowice, located in the south-eastern part of the city; it consists of multi-family prefabricated buildings and historic houses, usually single and two-family houses, which used to be a compact mining estate; it is still unique on an European scale and is included in the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship
5. approx. 15 min. drive back to your hotel
