It only takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from Kraków to Zalipie. If you’re travelling from Rzeszów, you should pass through Dąbrowa Tarnowska, and if fron Kielce – through Busko-Zdrój and Nowy Korczyn.

Have you ever wondered where did the tradition of painting houses in Zalipie come from, here’s an explanation. Many years ago, when there were mostly poor houses covered in soot from the chimneys, the people decided to decorate the dark interiors in white. The interesting thing is the fact, that at those times, painting the walls was considered fiction and many people didn’t like the idea.

But over time, painting patterbs beame common in many houses and was gaining popularity. In the beginning, people used brown colors. It wasn’t until later, when colorful paints became more available, that they decided to create more beautiful masterpieces.

The booster o this art is considered to be Felicja Curyłowa. That’s why when you go to to Zalipie, you should definitely visit her museum.
