Krakow: Lancut Castle & Rzeszow Tour

This fantastic tour allows you to see amazing Lancut Castle and city of Rzeszow during only one day from Krakow. Lancut Castle is renowned for its striking architectural design, splendid interior decor, and an exclusive assortment of horse-drawn vehicles. Initially constructed in the latter part of the 16th century, the castle underwent transformations into a palace-like residence. It is also celebrated as the historic home of two prominent Polish lineages: initially the Lubomirski family until 1816, followed by the Potocki family until 1944. Presently, the castle is encircled by a scenic park designed in the English style, dotted with various pavilions and agricultural structures. Despite being less famous, Rzeszów offers a captivating tourist experience. This hidden gem in southeastern Poland is rich in history and culture. Its charming Old Town provides a glimpse into its illustrious past. The city’s vibrant Market Square, lined with colorful buildings and bustling cafes, is perfect for leisurely exploration.

Tour itinerary:

  1. hotel pick up at chosen time,
  2. up to 2,5 hour drive from Krakow to Lancut Castle by private car/van accompanied by our English speaking driver,
  3. up to 2 hours of individual sightseeing tour of the Lancut Castle with rented audio-guide in chosen language during which you will be able to see:
  • castle interiors which are considered one of the most beautiful in Poland,
  • Great Vestibule, Room under the Wooden Ceiling and Zodiac Room, the oldest preserved rooms in the castle; they date back to the 17th century,
  • Brenne Apartment on the ground floor, Pompeian Room on the second floor and Chinese Apartment on the first floor(contains historic polychromy hidden under later decorations), all created in the 18th century; decorated by the Italian artist Vincenzo Brenne,
  • Turkish Apartment, Columned Salon; both come from the second half of the 18th century, designed by Szymon Bogumil Zug,
  • Mirror Salon, ornamented with a valuable rococo boiserie,
  • Sculpture Gallery, gallery displaying collection of sculptures,
  • Ballroom and Great Dining Room, the most representative rooms; created in 1800, ornamented with honey-coloured, polished wood carvings
  • Library, Corner Salon, Dining Room over the Gate, numerous bathrooms; from the turn of the 19th and the 20th century; preserved in original form,
  • various collections of paintings, graphics, furniture, musical instruments, silver, porcelain, glass, fabric and a magnificent book collection,
  • Stables and Coach House, impressive buildings of Neo-Baroque Stables and modern yet with classicist elements Carriage House; raised at the turn of the 19th and the 20th century;
  • a priceless collection of horse-drawn carriages owned by the Potocki family,

4. up to 30 minutes of free time, perfect for exploring the Castle Park,

5. approx. 30 min drive from Lancut Castle to Rzeszow

6. up to 4 hours of free time in Rzeszow city centre for lunch and self-guided walking tour during which you will be able to admire:

  • Lubomirski Castle, one of the main landmarks of Rzeszow; its construction started in the end of the 16th century, it was rebuilt between 1902-1906 (sightseeing from the outside),
  • Monument to Jan Pakoslawic, the founder of the city
  • Chestnut Avenue, a small street, built up with Art Nouveau villas,
  • Promenade – 3 Maja Street – former Communal Savings Bank,
  • Tekielski Tenement House, one of the most interesting tenement houses in the city, it used to belong to a well-known Rzeszow architect, Mateusz Tekielski
  • Popijar’s Convention with the Church of Holy Cross, a complex of buildings entered on the list of monuments in 1979,
  • Monument to Tadeusz Nalepa, a bronze sculpture depicting Tadeusz Nalepa, known as the father of Polish blues,
  • Monument to Leopold Lis – Kula, a Colonel of Infantry of the Polish Army, and recipient of the Virtuti Militari
  • Theater – former Falcon Building, the only professional drama theater in the entire Subcarpathian Province,
  • Bernardine Monastery with a late Gothic statue of Our Lady of Rzeszow,
  • Ghetto Victims Square, place of concentration of Jews before their deportation to the camp in Belzec,
  • Old Town Synagogue, one of the oldest synagogues in Subcarpathia,
  • New Town Synagogue, dates back to the 18th century,
  • Market Square, central part of the downtown; picturesque square features many cafés, pubs and restaurants; surrounded by renovated tenement houses,
  • Town Hall, a building that combines the neo-gothic and neo-renaissance style,
  • Kosciuszko Monument, erected in 1980; located near the town hall
