Rzeszow: Wieliczka Salt Mine & Krakow Tour

Wieliczka Salt Mine is definitely one of the most important Polish tourist attractions, widely known as the greatest mining museum in Europe. It is also an official National Historic Monument, eagerly visited by tourists from all over the world. You cannot miss this unique place which is located only 2 hours of driving from Rzeszow. After sightseeing of the Salt Mine, our driver will take you to Krakow – Poland’s former capital city and one of the oldest cities in the whole country, famous for its well-preserved, stunning architecture and great atmosphere.

Tour itinerary:

1.pick up from your hotel in Rzeszow at chosen time,
2.up to 2 hours drive by an air-conditioned vehicle to the Wieliczka Salt Mine from Rzeszow with our private English speaking driver,
3.sightseeing group tour inside the Salt Mine for up to 2,5 hours with local, professional guide in chosen language during which you will see:

  • Saint Anthony’s Chapel, with a majestic chandelier made of lumps of salt,
  • Janowice chamber, presenting famous legend about the beginnings of the mine,
  • The Kazimierz Wielki Chamber, presenting the role of the animals in the salt mine,
  • the famous Chapel of St Kinga with stunning salt reliefs carved by the miners in the walls and huge crystal chandeliers,
  • beautiful chambers with the traces of former exploitation of the salt,
  • salt lakes,
  • Erazm Baraczek chamber with an underground lake,
  • collection of wooden mining machines and equipment,
  • underground buildings

4. up to 1 hour of free for lunch after sightseeing tour
5. approx. 45 minutes drive from Wieliczka Salt Mine to Krakow
6. up to 3 hours of free time in Krakow during which you will be able to see:

  • Slowacki Theatre – erected in 1893, an architectural masterpiece,
  • Barbican – a historic gateway leading into the Old Town; built at the end of the 15th century,
  • Florianska Gate – built about the 14th century as a part of the city fortifications,
  • Florianska Street – one of the main streets in Krakow Old Town,
  • St. Mary’s Basilica- a brick Gothic church built in the 14th century,
  • Main Market Square – the largest medieval market square in Europe,
  • Cloth Hall – erected in the 13th century, one of the city’s most recognizable icons,
  • Town Hall Tower – the only remaining element of the 14th century Town Hall,
  • St. Peter and St. Pauls’ Church -located on Grodzka Street, inspired by the sacred architecture of Roman baroque,
  • Kanonicza Street – the best preserved historical street in old Krakow, widely recognized as the oldest one,
  • Wawel Royal Castle – the iconic symbol of Poland

7. approx. 2 hours drive back to Rzeszow from Krakow in the same vehicle with the same English speaking driver
8. drop off at your hotel in Rzeszow
