Krakow: Polish Dinner & Folk Show

An encounter with Polish folklore through music brings together the tradition and culture of the country. A performance by a folk band combines exceptional dancing, singing, and regional costume. For everyone who is willing to experience the true tradition that has been the result of the changes that appeared among people of Poland through ages, this activity is obligatory! During performances, guests are offered an opportunity to try the traditional Polish cuisine, which makes the whole experience one of a kind.

We invite you to have an insight into the most Polish part of our ancestry in two options:

• OPTION 1 is a group offer where along with other guests you will be able to be a part of the show along with the band consisting of professional musicians, a pair of dancers and a Lajkonik (one of the city’s unofficial symbols; a bearded man dressed in Mongol attire, with a wooden horse around his waist).It is held at Jama Michalika, a fabled cafe situated in a 15th-century building at Florianska 45 Str.
• OPTION 2 is a private show conducted by a dancing pair while having dinner. This one is recommended for all those who’d rather avoid crowds and prefer just admiring the show instead of taking part in it. This option is held at Morskie Oko, a restaurant that exceptionally resembles the unique spirit of a highlander’s inn. The restaurant is located in an art nouveau building at Szczepanski 8 Sq.,

OPTION 1 – Group show

Activity program:

1. Meeting at Jama Michalika, Florianska 45 Str. at 6:45 pm, time to get seated.
2. The first part (approx. 25 minutes) – the national dances and folk traditions (such as the legend of the Lajkonik and of the Bugle Call) are demonstrated while the guests are having a traditional Polish soup (rosół or barszcz)
3. A 10-minutes break for the main course (potatoes with traditional cutlet and sauerkraut/cabbage) followed by a dessert (a pie)
4. The second part (approx 25 minutes) – the performers entertain the audience with folk songs and invite them to dance. The dances are arranged and prepared by a professional choreographer.
5. End of the event.

Price: 190 PLN per person

Whole activity lasts approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Our proposal for this activity includes:

• Up to 1 hour of the unique folk show
• The performance of fine band and dancers
• A 3-course traditional Polish meal
• The ultimate chance to experience the variety of traditional elements of Polish culture

Important information:

• The exact time of the show may vary depending on the program and performers as well as the guests’ contribution
• The Folk Show is available every Wednesday and Saturday – please contact us beforehand to make sure we run the show the given day
• It is possible to adjust the meal for vegetarians on special request – please let us know in advance as normally meal set for this event is fixed

OPTION 2 – Private show

Activity program:

1. Meeting at Morskie Oko restaurant, time to get seated.
2. Ordering meals – the restaurant has a great variety of traditional dishes including meats and dumplings, all following the old highlanders’ recipes.
3. Start of the show – up to 1,5 hours of the marvellous program featuring the best traditional dances of Poland.
4. End of the event.

Price: 650 PLN total per one dancing pair*
