Bialowieza Forest & Biebrza Marshes

Explore Poland’s natural wonders with our expert guides through the primeval Bialowieza Forest and the unspoiled Biebrza Marshes. Experience birdwatching, track wolves, and witness the wild European Bison, Elks, and Beavers. Białowieża, Europe’s last lowland primeval forest, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering a sanctuary for rare species and the European Bison. The Biebrza Marshes, a vast area of wetlands, are a haven for unique birds and large mammals like Elk and Beavers, providing an unforgettable nature experience.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1 – transfer from Warsaw to Bialowieza Forest

By no later than 13:00, we’ll arrange your pickup from Warsaw Airport or your Warsaw hotel and head to Bialowieza Forest. The journey takes about 4 hours, culminating in a check-in at a cozy guesthouse/hotel in Bialowieza village. Post-dinner, you’ll be briefed on the itinerary. Over the next three days, we’ll explore Bialowieża Forest and its vicinity. Depending on time, an introductory evening stroll might be offered on the first day to familiarize you with the environment and potentially observe local wildlife.

Day 2 – Bison Safari in Bialowieza Forest

During early mornings and late evenings, we’ll seek out wild European Bison, aiming for close encounters with these majestic creatures. With over 500 Bison in the area, our expertise guides us to their locations via minibus rides and short hikes to various vantage points, offering a safari-like experience. Additionally, midday excursions delve deeper into Białowieża Forest’s diverse habitats, where we may spot rare woodpeckers, birds of prey, and mammals including Bison, Red Deer, and possibly Wolves and Lynx.

Day 3 – Primeval Forest Reserve

During your visit to Bialowieza Forest, an expert guide will lead you through the park’s Strict Protection Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering a unique glimpse into ancient European woodlands. This experience, akin to stepping back in time, showcases the forest’s biodiversity, including rare woodpeckers and other seasonal birds. The tour promises to alter your perspective on nature, making you feel as though you’re part of a live nature documentary.

Day 4 – Wolf tracking, birdwatching and more

Our guide will lead additional explorations in Bialowieza Forest across various seasons, showcasing the area’s rich biodiversity. From early spring’s special birds and owls to late spring’s songbirds and warblers, each season offers unique wildlife sightings, including summer’s lake-side bird watching and autumn’s vibrant fungi and animal mating displays. Alongside, there’s a plethora of flora and fauna to discover, ensuring a comprehensive experience of Poland’s pristine nature from dawn till dusk.

Day 5 – Transfer to the Biebrza Marshes

Following a fulfilling Polish breakfast, we’ll journey to the Biebrza Marshes, passing through the countryside adorned with traditional wooden architecture and vibrant villages, offering a rich Eastern Poland cultural experience. The spring and summer visits include explorations of ponds teeming with diverse birdlife and other local fauna. The day concludes with a stroll in Biebrza National Park, aiming to sight Elks and, seasonally, the rare Aquatic Warbler. Our day wraps up at a guesthouse in Biebrza, where dinner and a brief on future plans await.

Day 6 – Elk & Beaver Safari in the Biebrza Marshes

In the early morning, we’ll embark on an Elk safari through willow shrubs and fens, potentially visiting a hide for marsh views. Our expert guides, familiar with the area’s over 1000 Elks, often provide close encounters, especially in spring. After breakfast, we explore Biebrza’s seasonal highlights, including diverse birdwatching opportunities. The day concludes with an early dinner and a Beaver safari at sunset, cruising the river to observe Beavers in their natural habitat, a tour highlight for many.

Day 7 – Red Bog trek, birdwatching and more

Our guide will lead you to the Biebrza National Park’s restricted Red Bog Reserve, a habitat for wolves and diverse wildlife, where you’ll learn advanced tracking techniques amid breathtaking landscapes. The visit includes time on glacial sand dunes for potential reptile sightings and a picnic in the park’s core. Seasonally, we might explore additional park sites for unique wildlife phenomena, like Ruff and Snipe lekking, nesting terns, and congregating cranes, enhancing the experience with the park’s dynamic natural events.

Day 8 – Transfer to Warsaw, lunch in the Old Town area

Following a hearty breakfast, we’ll embark on a roughly 3-hour return trip to Warsaw, aiming to reach by noon for a stroll in the Old Town and a traditional Polish meal at a quaint restaurant. The tour officially concludes upon our arrival in Warsaw, with participants arranging their own post-tour accommodations and travel. Around 16:00, we offer transfers to the Warsaw airport or to a local hotel for those extending their stay.
