Śnieżnik – the beautiful trail from Międzygórze
Śnieżnik is the highest peak of the Polish Eastern Sudety, and the central point of the Śnieżnik Massif. Thanks to the fact, that you can’t find any higher mountains in this area, it also owns the Crown of the Polish Mountains. The trail leading to the top is delightfully pleasant, along the way you can find a mountain shelter, which will give you support during your mountain hike, and through the top runs the Polish-Czech border.
This is the highest mountain range of the Polish Eastern Sudety, located in the south-eastern part of the Kłodzko Land. Most of the area of the Śnieżnik Massif is located within the Polish border, with only a quarter of it being located at the Czech side.
In 1981, the Śnieżnik Landscape Park was established here. Although it might be surprising to spot a mountain goat in its crest, it is no accident, because since the late 19th century, in the region of Średniak, not far from the mountain shelter you can observe a herd of mountain goats. These animals came here from the Czech Republic, from the nearby Jaseniki, and today, it is the only place in Poland where you cansee mountain goats, apart from the Tatra Mountains.
The best way to start visiting this place is from the charming Wilczka waterfall, which is located at the edge of the village of Międzygórze. It is the second largest waterfall at the Polish side of Sudety
And thanks to several observation points, it makes people want to stay a bit longer. It is also worth taking a look at the local, monumental buildings, resembling alpine architecture.
