Wroclaw: Gross Rosen Concentration Camp Tour

Gross Rosen concentration camp was established during World War 2 by Germans as a subcamp of Sachsenhausen concentration camp which is located near Berlin. First prisoners arrived in Gross Rosen in August 1940 and within only few months it gained fame of being one of the hardest concentrations camps in German Third Reich. Most of prisoners worked in local granite quarry on 12 hours shifts receiving starving rations of food and nearly no medical help. It is said that among the 125,000 inmates of different nationalities (Jews, Poles and citizens of Soviet Union) who passed through this camp during its existence, the estimated number of vicitims is 40,000.

Tour itinerary:

  1. pick up from your hotel
  2. approx 1 hour drive from Wroclaw to Gross Rosen Camp
  3. individual sightseeing of Concentration Camp with audio guide in English, German, Polish, French, Czech, Russian, Dutch up to 2 hours or with a live guide (depending of the availability)
  4. 30 minutes of watching documentary movie in English
  5. driving back to Wroclaw
  6. drop off at your hotel in Wroclaw

During individual sightseeing of Gross Rosen Concentration Camp you will see:

  • exhibitions in the originally preserved barracks at the gate to the prisoner camp;
  • prisoner kitchen;
  • crematorium;
  • exhibition in the basement of the former “Weberei” commando
  • reconstruction of the prison staff;
  • original prisoner barrack;
  • bathhouse;
  • area of granite quarry
