Wroclaw: Riese Complex Tour
The Owl Mountains in the Lower Silesia are probably one of the most mysterious places related with World War II. It is a place where underground structures called Riese Complex are located. The purpose of this Nazi German project remains unknown. Built between 1943–1945, the massive, top-secret underground complex consists of numerous shelters and tunnels. None of seven underground structures were finished. Only a small percentage of tunnels is reinforced by concrete. Some people believe all the structures were part of the Adolf Hitler’s Headquarters. Some parts of the Riese Complex are now available for tourists. If you are particularly interested in the history of World War II, you cannot miss this unique site.

Tour itinerary:
- hotel pick up at chosen time
- approx. 1 hour and 45 min ride by private car/van with English speaking driver from Wroclaw to the town of Gluszyca where the Underground Town of Osowka (part of the Riese Complex) is located by
- entry to the underground construction with a local group and audio-guide in chosen language; During 1,5 hour visit you will have a chance to see:
- the last and the most developed part of the Riese Complex,
- system of concrete corridors and fortifications from 1943,
- underground halls, up to 8 metres high
- “Casino”, single-storey structure with a length of about 50 m, made of concrete,
- “Gimnasium”, reinforced concrete foundation, designed to provide services to the underground part,
- historical weapon and military equipment exhibition,
- documental movies which tell the story of the Riese Complex,
- equipment used for work during the construction,
- historical all-terrain vehicle.

4. up to 1 hour of free time for lunch in the local restaurant or lonely walk around overground part of the complex,
5. 10 minutes drive from the Underground Town of Osowka to the Walimskie Drifts – another part of the Riese Complex,
6. entry to the underground construction of the Walimskie Drifts and up to 1 hour of sightseeing with the local group and audio-guide in chosen language during which you will see:
- impressively large halls amounting to 80 metres in length,
- long corridors and small bunkers reinforced with concrete,
- the guard-house with a very few documents related to the Riese Complex,
- display with documents, tools, and equipment used during construction,
- the outdoor exhibition of weapons from World War 2,
- exterior parts of the complex: warehouses, compressors pumping fresh air into the tunnels etc.
