Poznan: Chelmno Kulmhof Concentration Camp Tour
Within a 1,5 hour drive from Poznan towards the direction of Lodz, we can take you to the the first German extermination camp in the village of Chelmno by Ner River (in German: Kulmhof am Nehr). It functioned from autumn 1941 to April 1943 and briefly in 1944. It is the main place of mass extermination of the Jewish population from the Wartheland and prisoners of the Lodz ghetto. The most probable number of those exterminated is approximately 200,000. This camp may not be as popular as Auschwitz-Birkenau, Treblinka or Majdanek but it is definitely also worth visiting if you are interested in this certain tragic period in history. For sure it will be a sad but memorable experience with a valuable lesson.
