Lodz: Tour to Czestochowa

Czestochowa is the religious capital of Poland, a symbol of resistance, a place of pilgrimages and meeting centre. It is famous for its Monastery of Jasna Gora – home for the most significant icon in the country – Black Madonna. The icon is credited with miraculously saving the monastery during the Siege of Jasna Gora at the time of the Deluge – Swedish invasion in XVII century. Tour itinerary:

1. hotel pick up at chosen time,
2. approximately 2,5 hours drive from Lodz to Czestochowa by private car/van with English speaking driver,
3. meeting your local private monk guide in chosen language at the Pauline Monastery of Jasna Gora
4. up to 1,5 hour of private guided tour during which you will be able to see:

• The Basilica of Jasna Gora – the main part of the complex, filled with opulent Baroque furnishings,
• Knights’ Hall – constructed in 1647 in the Renaissance style, nine 17th century paintings presents important events of the Monastery history,
• The Chapel of Miraculous Painting of Our Lady with the image of Black Madonna of Czestochowa – Jasna Gora’s greatest treasure; painted on three linden boards; it depicts half-length standing Madonna with Child Jesus on her arm,
• Museum of the 600th Anniversary of Jasna Gora Monastery – one of the several exhibitions at the monastery,
• The Treasury – the oldest part of the museum, presenting most valuable gifts handed over to Our Lady of Jasna Gora,
• St. Roch Bastion- former part of Jasna Gora fortress, built between 1624-1639; today, exhibition titled “Mother of God. Poland’s Splendor of Both Nations ” is located here

If you wish to visit the Monastery of Jasna Gora on your own, it is also possible.

We will organize transportation by private, comfortable car/ minivan accompanied by a private English speaking driver. In Czestochowa you will have up to 3 hours of free time to visit Jasna Gora Monastery and eat lunch or explore city of Czestochowa on your own
