Lodz: Wroclaw Tour

Wroclaw is one of the most interesting and beautiful cities in Poland. Its long and complicated history makes it even more unique. Old Town of the city is full of remarkable architecture from different history periods. For the centuries, Polish and German influences mixed here. Today it is the capital of the Lower Silesia region and the 4th largest city in Poland. Located approx. 200 km from Lodz could be the perfect choice for a one day trip outside the city. Our local guide will take you for a walk through the cozy streets of this marvellous city and share some secrets from its history. You will not miss the impressive building of Centennial Hall which in 2006 was added to the World Cultural Heritage List of UNESCO.

Tour itinerary:

  1. hotel pick up at chosen time
  2. approx. 2,5 hours drive from Lodz to Wroclaw by private car/van with English speaking driver,
  3. 4 hours of partially walking and partially driving guided tour of Wroclaw City with private local city guide in chosen language during which you will see:
  • Old Market Square – the undisputed symbol of the city, one of the largest market squares in Europe with beautiful, colourful townhouses
  • Town Hall – great example of Gothic architecture, stands at the center of the city’s Market Square since 13th century,
  • Salt Market – a former medieval marketplace; centuries ago salt was sold here and today it is famous for being a flower market
  • St. Elizabeth’s Church – built in 1417 on the site of a chapel existing at the shelter for the poor and the sick,
  • Stare Jatki lane – small medieval lane, Memorial to Slaughtered Animals is located here,
  • Tenement houses Jas & Malgosia (Hans & Gretel)– famous medieval tenement houses;
  • Wiezienna Street with a former city prison – in the Middle Ages lower class prisoners were held here,
  • Main building of the University of Wroclaw – today the largest university in the region, one of the most representative buildings in the whole city,
  • University Church of the Blessed Name of Jesus – one of the most beautiful churches in the Central Europe,
  • Ossolineum – a Polish cultural foundation, publishing house, archival institute and a research centre,
  • Nankier Square with the Hochberg’s ChapelI, a marvel of Baroque architecture and adornment,
  • Market Hall – built between 1905-1908; not only a shopping centre, but also a tourist attraction,
  • Sand Island – famous island of Wroclaw, with the monumental Church of Our Lady on the Sand
  • Ostrow Tumski / Cathedral Island – the oldest part of the city,
  • St. John’s Baptist Cathedral – located on Ostrow Tumski Island; a landmark of the city
  • Centennial Hall – amazing architectural work of Max Berg constructed in 1911-1913 when Wroclaw belonged to Germany; included on the UNESCO World Heritage List

4. approximately 2 hours of free time for lunch and discovering the city on your own
